Success in Small Business: What Model Is Working Right Now?

Gone are the days of creating a business, looking around at what other successful business owners are doing and copying them. Doesn't work. It also creates needless feelings of competition, which is not fun at all.

No, times have changed. We are seeing a brand new paradigm in business success. The new paradigm is that customers and clients come to you because they resonate with you and your message. This sounds very simple, and it is... unless you don't fully understand how deep this actually goes.

Let me explain. Ever walked down a street with lots of cute boutiques and one just catches your eye and you have to go in? I know I have! It's usually because of the look of the store's colours, the window display, and the general feel the store exudes.

After looking visually at the outside, we might gaze up to look at the name of the boutique. And, if it's in a certain font and colour we resonate with, we like the place even more and... in we step.

What do we do when we walk in? We see something that catches our eye, have a look, investigate a little further, and potentially enjoy a gorgeous fragrance in the store. Perhaps there's lovely music playing too. Ooh, we like this place!

Whether your small business is a brick and mortar boutique or an online website promoting your programs and services, potential customers and clients act the same way.

They are attracted, intrigued, magnetically pulled in by images, colours, and then words and messages. (Notice the order?)

When I paid attention to this very aspect of my business, it catapulted. People connected with me from all over the world and the consistent comment was, "I don't know why but I was just drawn to you."

Realizing this, I went even deeper and infused my uniqueness and essence everywhere I could and in everything I did.

Not only did this attract clients to me, it made them feel at home and in the right spot because they resonated with the vibe of me and my site and offerings.

Now, don't get me wrong, in order for someone to experience success in a small business they must have a clear message, clear offerings, and a strategic marketing plan, but without adding in the pieces I just spoke of, none of these things would make a difference. Not in today's world.

Customers and clients want MORE. They want an experience! Large companies are noticing this as well.

Just look at the experience Build-a-Bear takes you through? Or certain Banks. How about Virgin Air? They are all trying to provide the client or customer with a unique experience so they remember and happily return as well as pass on the word that "this place is great!"

The other day I was in L'Occitane and upon entering, already having noticed their trademark colours, signage and smell oozing from the store, I was greeted by a smiling face and offered some lemonade in a champagne flute. They had me! In fact just last night I made myself some lemonade because I remembered that yummy experience.

Any company or business owner playing by the old rules of build the business, provide a good service and get payment will no longer be successful. The rules have changed and I'm glad.

The new rules are forcing companies to become much more customer appreciative and small business owners are having to go deep into themselves, remember who they really are and embrace their uniqueness which is bringing them closer to their Divine self. And from this place? Any business that serves from the Divine is offering HUGE benefit to the world. YES!
